This 2027 6×12 tilt trailer is a black steel, single axle model with a manual tilt deck and a 5,000 lb GVWR. There are no ramps to carry or set up. Release the lock, and the deck tips down to the ground so you can drive or roll your load straight on.

What you get with this 6×12 tilt trailer

The deck is 6 ft wide and 12 ft long, about 1.8 x 3.7 m. That suits ride-on mowers, small tractors, ATVs, golf carts, motorbikes and pallets. It’s a size that tows easily behind a pickup or a large SUV and doesn’t take over your driveway.

The manual tilt is simple. There’s no pump or battery to look after. You unlock the deck, the load’s weight tips it, and it settles back level once the load is far enough forward. Then you lock it again.

How a manual tilt works

A manual or gravity tilt deck pivots near the axle. When you release the lock and the deck is empty, the back drops to the ground and gives you a low, gentle slope. Drive the machine up slowly. Once its weight passes the pivot point, the deck tips back level. Lock it, strap down and go.

Many owners fit a simple damper or use a cable to slow the deck as it lowers. Either way, a 6×12 tilt trailer gets you loaded faster than ramps and with far less lifting.

Towing a 6×12 tilt trailer

The 5,000 lb GVWR (about 2,268 kg) is the total for trailer and load. If you’re new to towing, read up on gross vehicle weight rating and check your vehicle’s limit. Make sure your hitch matches the coupler. This overview of tow hitches covers the common types.

Keep the load slightly ahead of the axle so there’s weight on the hitch. On a single axle trailer, balance matters even more than on a tandem.

Loading tips

Load on level ground. Unlock the deck, let it settle and line your machine up straight. Drive on slowly and keep moving steadily as the deck tips. Never stand beside the deck while it pivots. Lock the deck, then strap the machine at four points.

To unload, unlock the deck, reverse slowly and let it tip back down. Keep the deck locked whenever you’re driving.

Looking after it

Grease the tilt pivot and the lock so they move freely. Check bearings once a year, tire pressure before trips and lights every time you hook up. Touch up chips on the frame. A 6×12 tilt trailer has fewer parts than a hydraulic one, so basic care goes a long way.

Mistakes to avoid

Driving with the deck unlocked is the big one. Always check the lock.

Stopping halfway up the deck is another. Keep a steady speed so the deck tips smoothly. The third is overloading a single axle. The fourth is parking the machine too far back, which makes the trailer sway.

How owners use a 6×12 tilt trailer

Homeowners move ride-on mowers to a second property. Small landscaping crews carry mowers and garden machinery. ATV and golf cart owners love not handling ramps. Some people use a 6×12 tilt trailer for pallets of firewood or building supplies.

Compare other tilt trailers

The TL612-5K gravity tilt is another 6×12 option, and the TL614-5K adds two feet. For heavier machines and button-press loading, look at the hydraulic tilt trailer.

What fits on a 6×12 tilt trailer

A 6 ft wide, 12 ft long deck takes most ride-on mowers, garden tractors, ATVs, golf carts, small side-by-sides and one or two motorbikes. It also suits pallets of firewood, bagged soil or building supplies. Measure the width of your machine at its widest point and check its weight with any attachments. If both fit inside the deck size and the 5,000 lb GVWR, a 6×12 tilt trailer will handle it.

Gravity tilt, ramps or hydraulic?

Ramps are the cheapest option, but they’re heavy, they can slip and they make you lift every time. A hydraulic tilt costs more and needs a battery and pump, but it gives you button control over the deck angle.

A manual tilt sits in the middle. No ramps to lift, no hydraulics to maintain, and a low, gentle loading angle. For mowers, ATVs and small tractors, a 6×12 tilt trailer with a manual deck is often the best value. If you load very heavy or very low machines every day, look at a hydraulic model instead.

Accessories worth adding

Ratchet straps or chains suited to your machine, wheel chocks and a spare wheel are the basics. A coupler lock keeps your 6×12 tilt trailer where you parked it. Some owners add a winch at the front for machines that don’t run, or a small tongue box for straps and gloves. LED lights on the deck help with loading in the dark.

Pre-trip checklist

Deck locked in the travel position
Coupler latched and pinned, chains crossed
Lights working
Tire pressures right and wheel nuts tight
Machine strapped at four points

The deck lock is the one people forget. Make it the first thing you check on your 6×12 tilt trailer, every time.

Storing it

Park on level ground with the deck locked and the jack on a block. Grease the pivot and lock before winter so they don’t seize. If the trailer sits for weeks, move it now and then so the tires don’t flat-spot, and touch up chips before rust starts.

Trailer terms explained

A few terms that help when you choose a 6×12 tilt trailer.

GVWR: the most the trailer and its load can weigh together.
Payload: the GVWR minus the trailer’s empty weight. This is what you can actually carry.
Tongue weight: the downward weight on your hitch, usually around 10 to 15 percent of the loaded weight on a bumper pull trailer.
Single axle: one axle, which keeps the trailer light, cheap to run and easy to move by hand.
Pivot point: the spot the deck tilts around, usually near the axle.
Coupler: the part on the front of the trailer that locks onto your hitch ball.

Before you buy

Measure your machine at its widest point and check its weight with any attachments. Confirm your vehicle can tow the loaded trailer and that your hitch ball matches the coupler. Think about where you will park it, since a 12 ft trailer still needs space. If you mostly carry one mower or an ATV, this size is ideal. If you carry heavy or very low machines every day, compare it with a hydraulic tilt model before you decide.

Not sure? Send us the make and model of your mower, ATV or tractor and the vehicle you tow with, and we will tell you honestly whether this trailer is the right fit for you.

Common questions

Is a manual tilt safe?

Yes, when used on level ground with the deck locked for travel.

Can I carry a small tractor on this 6×12 tilt trailer?

Many compact tractors fit. Check the width and weight against the deck and GVWR.

Do I need brakes?

Rules depend on where you live and the loaded weight. Ask us how this unit is set up.

Does it need registration?

That depends on your country or region. Check locally.

How steep is the deck when tilted?

A tilt deck gives a lower angle than most ramps. Ask us for the exact angle if you have a very low machine.

Can I add a winch?

Yes, many owners fit a small winch at the front for machines that do not run.

Can I carry a golf cart?

Most golf carts fit easily on a 6 ft wide deck. Strap the wheels or frame, not the roof or seats.

Is it easy to tow with an SUV?

A mid-size or large SUV with a hitch and the right tow rating usually handles it well, especially with lighter loads like a single mower.

What to check when it arrives

Tilt the deck a few times empty. Check the lock, pivot, lights, tires and wheel nuts. Ask for the bearing service interval.
