This 2027 single axle aluminum trailer is a 6×12 open trailer in silver with a 2,996 lb GVWR. It’s for people who want a decent-sized deck without the extra weight, cost and upkeep that come with a second axle.

What you get with this single axle aluminum trailer

The deck is 6 ft wide and 12 ft long, about 1.8 x 3.7 m. That fits a ride-on mower with tools, two quads, a garden tractor, or a big load of timber and garden waste. Aluminum keeps the empty weight low, so the trailer is easy to tow and easy to move by hand.

One axle means one pair of wheels, bearings and tires to look after. It also means a tighter turning circle, which helps when you’re backing into a driveway or a narrow gate.

Single axle or tandem axle?

A tandem trailer spreads weight over four tires and is steadier with heavy loads. A single axle aluminum trailer is lighter, cheaper to run and easier to move around. If you mostly carry mowers, quads, garden waste and furniture, one axle is plenty.

Go tandem if you regularly carry heavy machines, tow long distances at highway speed with full loads, or need a higher GVWR. For everyday home and light business use, the single axle wins on simplicity.

Why aluminum

Aluminum doesn’t rust like steel, so the frame and deck hold up to rain and road salt. The lighter weight also leaves more of your vehicle’s tow rating for cargo. The trade-off is a higher purchase price, which usually comes back in lower upkeep and better resale.

Towing a single axle aluminum trailer

The 2,996 lb GVWR is the combined limit for trailer and load. Read about gross vehicle weight rating if it’s new to you. Keep about 60 percent of the load ahead of the axle. Balance matters more on a single axle trailer, because it has less to steady it.

Looking after it

Rinse it after muddy or salty trips, grease the bearings once a year and check tire pressure before every long drive. On a single axle aluminum trailer, the two tires do all the work, so keep an eye on wear. Test the lights each time you hook up.

Mistakes to avoid

Overloading is the first, and it’s easy with heavy materials. Loading tail-heavy is the second. The third is ignoring tire wear, and the fourth is loose straps on machines.

Pre-trip checklist

Coupler latched and pinned, safety chains crossed
Lights and indicators working
Tire pressures right, wheel nuts tight
Load strapped down and balanced, heavy items forward
Jack fully raised

It takes two minutes before each trip with your single axle aluminum trailer, and it catches most problems while you are still in the driveway.

Trailer terms explained

A few words you will see when you compare any single axle aluminum trailer with other models:

GVWR: the most the trailer and its load can weigh together.
Payload: the GVWR minus the empty weight of the trailer. This is what you can actually carry.
Tongue weight: the downward weight on your hitch, usually about 10 to 15 percent of the loaded weight.
Coupler: the part on the front of the trailer that locks onto your hitch ball.
Ramp gate: the rear gate that folds down so you can drive machines on.
Tandem axle: two axles that share the load and make the trailer more stable.

How owners use it

Homeowners use it for garden and moving jobs. Small landscaping outfits run a mower and tools. Quad riders carry two machines. A single axle aluminum trailer suits people who want a reliable trailer that doesn’t need much attention.

Storing it

Park on firm, level ground with the jack on a block. Aluminum does not rust, but the steel axles, hubs and springs still like to stay out of standing water. Move the trailer now and then so the tires do not flat-spot. Keep wet leaves and mulch off the deck. A coupler lock keeps your single axle aluminum trailer where you left it.

Compare other aluminum trailers

The 2026 6×12 aluminum trailer is the previous year’s model. For heavier work on two axles, look at the 7×14 aluminum utility trailer or the 7×16 aluminum trailer.

Why owners pick this model

People usually come to this trailer after owning a heavier steel one. They want the same useful 6×12 deck, but lighter to tow, easier to push around by hand and without the yearly paint touch-ups. The single axle keeps running costs down, with one pair of tires and one set of bearings to look after. If that sounds like you, a single axle aluminum trailer is a sensible upgrade. If you often tow heavy machines at highway speed, though, a tandem model will feel steadier, so it is worth thinking about what you carry most.

Accessories worth adding

A few cheap extras make an open trailer much more useful. Ratchet straps and wheel chocks keep machines and loads in place. A cargo net or tarp stops garden waste and light items blowing out. A spare wheel and a jack that fits the trailer can save a ruined day. A coupler lock stops anyone hitching up and driving off with your single axle aluminum trailer. Lawn crews often add a trimmer rack or a lockable tongue box for fuel and hand tools.

Before you buy

Check your vehicle tow rating and hitch ball size first. Then think about the heaviest load you carry most weeks, not the biggest job you do once a year, and measure the widest machine you plan to put on the deck. Finally, measure where you will park the trailer at home, including the tongue. If all of that lines up, this single axle aluminum trailer will fit the way you work. If you are not sure, send us your vehicle and what you plan to carry and we will give you a straight answer.

Driving with a trailer

Give yourself more room to stop, because a loaded trailer adds a lot of weight behind you. Take corners a little wider so the trailer wheels do not clip the kerb. On the motorway, keep a steady speed and avoid sudden steering. If the trailer starts to sway, ease off the accelerator gently and keep the wheel straight rather than braking hard. When reversing, small movements of the wheel go a long way. Practise in an empty car park the first few times you tow your single axle aluminum trailer, and it soon feels normal.

Common questions

Is a single axle aluminum trailer stable?

Yes, when it’s loaded properly with most of the weight ahead of the axle.

Can it carry two ATVs?

Two standard quads usually fit on a 6×12 deck. Check the combined weight.

Does it need brakes?

That depends on the loaded weight and local rules. Ask us how this unit is set up.

Does it need registration?

Rules vary by country and region. Check locally.

What is the difference between this and the 2026 model?

Both are 6×12 single axle aluminum trailers with the same rating. This one is the newer 2027 build. Ask us if you want a side-by-side comparison of the details.

Can it carry a garden tractor?

Most garden tractors fit on a 6 ft wide deck. Check the weight with any attachments against the GVWR.

Can I leave it outside?

Yes. Keep it on firm ground, check the tires before use and lock the coupler if it is visible from the road.

How often should I grease the bearings?

Once a year for most owners, or sooner if the trailer has been in deep water or does a lot of distance.
