This 2027 7×14 enclosed trailer is a white steel cargo box on two axles, with barn doors at the back, 84 inches of standing room inside and a 7,055 lb GVWR. It’s the size most tradespeople and small movers end up with once they’ve outgrown a 6×12, and it is for sale now.

What you get with this 7×14 enclosed trailer

The floor is 7 by 14 feet, about 2.1 x 4.3 m. At 84 inches (2.13 m) tall inside, most adults can walk in without ducking, which you appreciate after the tenth trip in and out with boxes. Barn doors swing wide and leave the full rear opening clear, so you can back up tight to a loading dock or a garage and slide things straight in.

White walls reflect the sun, so the inside stays cooler in summer than a dark trailer. That matters if you carry paint, adhesives, electronics or anything else that doesn’t like heat.

Barn doors or a ramp?

Barn doors are simple and they don’t wear out. Nothing to lift, no springs, no cables. They also let you load from a dock at the same height as the floor. The trade-off is that you can’t roll a mower or a motorbike straight in without a separate ramp. If most of what you carry is boxed, stacked or hand-carried, barn doors are the easier choice. If you roll machines in every day, look at our ramp models further down.

Towing a 7×14 enclosed trailer

The 7,055 lb figure is the most the trailer and its load can weigh together. If that term is new, the page on gross vehicle weight rating explains it well. A half-ton pickup or a large SUV rated for the loaded weight usually does the job, with a brake controller fitted. Make sure the tow hitch and ball are rated for it too. Being a tall box, it feels the wind on open roads. Slow down a bit and it tracks fine.

Loading it right

Put the heavy stuff over the axles and slightly forward, then fill around it. Use the E-track or D-rings to strap everything; loose cargo shifts on the first roundabout. Keep about 10 to 15 percent of the loaded weight on the tongue.

Mistakes to avoid

Stacking heavy items at the back is the big one, since it makes the trailer sway. The other is guessing the weight. If the load is close to the limit, use a public weighbridge once and you’ll know for good.

Pre-trip checklist

Coupler latched and pinned, safety chains crossed
Lights and indicators working
Tire pressures right, wheel nuts tight
Load strapped down and balanced, heavy items forward
Jack fully raised

It takes two minutes before each trip with your 7×14 enclosed trailer, and it catches most problems while you are still in the driveway.

Trailer terms explained

Words that come up when you shop for a 7×14 enclosed trailer:

GVWR: the most the trailer and everything inside can weigh together.
Payload: the GVWR minus the empty weight of the trailer.
Interior height: the clear height inside, which decides whether you can stand up and what fits through the door.
Barn doors: two hinged rear doors that swing open.
Ramp door: a rear door that folds down to make a loading ramp.
E-track: slotted rails on the walls or floor for straps, shelves and hooks.

How owners use a 7×14 enclosed trailer

Builders keep it on site as a lockable tool store. Event crews carry tables, lights and speakers. Some owners fit shelving and a workbench and run a mobile repair business from it. A 7×14 enclosed trailer is one of those sizes that ends up doing more jobs than you planned.

Storing it

Park on level ground with the jack on a block and crack a vent so moisture does not build up inside. Check roof seams and door seals before winter, since water in the floor is what ages an enclosed trailer fastest. Move it now and then so the tires do not flat-spot, and use a coupler lock and a good door lock to keep your 7×14 enclosed trailer secure.

Compare other cargo trailers

The 7×14 cargo trailer has the same footprint with a higher 10,141 lb rating. If you need a ramp, see the ramp door cargo trailer. Need a bit more length? The 7×16 enclosed trailer adds two feet.

Accessories worth adding

E-track rails on the walls are the most useful upgrade for any enclosed trailer. Straps, shelves, bike chocks and hooks clip on and move where you need them. Add a battery LED light for loading at night, a rubber floor mat so things do not slide, and a coupler lock plus a disc lock on the door latch. Some owners fit a roof vent, a spare wheel mount and a small fire extinguisher inside their 7×14 enclosed trailer.

Before you buy

Write down the biggest things you plan to carry and measure them, including height. Check your vehicle tow rating and hitch, and make sure you have somewhere to park a tall trailer at home. If you will load bikes, mowers or carts, a ramp door helps. If you load from a dock or forklift, barn doors are easier. With those answers, it is simple to tell whether this 7×14 enclosed trailer is right for you. If you are unsure, send us your list and we will help.

Driving with an enclosed trailer

A tall, flat-fronted trailer catches wind, so slow down on exposed roads and keep both hands on the wheel when trucks pass. Fuel use goes up compared with an open trailer, so plan stops on long trips. You cannot see through the box, which makes good towing mirrors essential. A cheap wireless rear camera makes reversing your 7×14 enclosed trailer much less stressful. Watch overhead clearance at car parks, fuel stations and drive-throughs.

Common questions

Can I fit a sofa and a fridge in this 7×14 enclosed trailer?

Yes, with room to spare. A small flat’s worth of furniture usually fits in one trip.

Does it have tie-down points?

Ask us for the exact setup on this unit. Most come with D-rings or E-track.

Can I add shelves?

Yes. Owners often screw shelving into the wall studs. Avoid drilling the roof.

Can I convert it into a workshop or camper?

Plenty of people do, with insulation, shelving, lights and a vent. Check local rules if you plan to sleep in it.

How do I stop condensation inside?

Keep a vent open, avoid storing wet gear for long periods and air it out on dry days.

Do you offer delivery?

Ask us about delivery to your area when you order your 7×14 enclosed trailer.

What to check when it arrives

Open and close both barn doors, check the seals and locks, walk the floor, and test lights, brakes and tires.

Wiring and lights

Most electrical trouble on a trailer comes down to a bad ground. If a light flickers or the indicators blink at a strange speed, clean the ground point on the frame and the plug pins before buying new bulbs. A little dielectric grease on the plug keeps water out.

LED lights draw less power and last longer, but they still need a clean connection. Test everything on your 7×14 enclosed trailer with a helper before each trip. It takes thirty seconds and saves a roadside stop.

Parking and storing between jobs

Park on firm, level ground where you can. Chock a wheel on both sides if the ground slopes even slightly, and put a board under the jack foot on soft soil or hot asphalt so it doesn’t sink. A coupler lock costs little and stops the easiest kind of theft.

Lift the tongue a touch higher than the back so rain runs off instead of pooling. If your 7×14 enclosed trailer will sit for months, take some weight off the tires with stands and cover the coupler so it doesn’t fill with grit.

Backing up without the stress

Put your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel. Move your hand left and the back of the trailer goes left. That one trick sorts out most of the confusion. Go slowly, make small corrections, and get out to look whenever you aren’t sure. Nobody minds waiting ten seconds; everybody minds a dented gate post.

Longer trailers are easier to reverse than short ones because they react more slowly, so don’t let the length of a 7×14 enclosed trailer put you off. Half an hour in an empty car park with a couple of cones does more than any amount of reading.
